Fritto was proud to win an award for the category of ‘Improving wellbeing and resilience of young people’ at the recent Youth Awards. Fritto as a social enterprise offers work experience to young people working with the Youth Offending Services (YOS), whom wish to pursue a catering career.
As part of the programme Luca has been working with a vulnerable Young Person involved with Children’s Services and the YOS. This young person recently moved into his own independent accommodation. Luca has supported the Young Person to furnish the new property as well as introducing budgeting skills. This is in addition to the direct Mentoring support given to enhance Catering skills. Some of the projects undertaken are; Christmas Dinner for Riverside Housing residents, serving of food for homeless providers as part of global ‘Be Lovely day’ and an event at the Black-E Centre, aimed at recruiting Young People into training around entrepreneurial and business skills.
The award recognises the support that Luca has given, enabling the Young Person to make a smooth transition from being fully looked after by Children’s Services into independent living.
Luca is now keen to recruit further Young People, so he may build a cohort of well experienced assistants as part of his Social Enterprise, whom may have experienced a life of disadvantage. The eventual plan is for the trained Mentees to assist Luca at events such as the ‘Liverpool Food and Drinks’ Festival.
